Botanical vandusen - a beautiful Park in the heart of Vancouver. He is one of the most interesting and popular tourist attractions, as well as one of the best Botanical gardens in North America. With the exception of the Christmas holidays, Botanical vandusen is open to the public year-round. The area of the Botanical garden is 22 hectares (55 acres).

The history of Botanical vandusen began in 1970, when the Vancouver organization, the government of British Columbia and the city of Vancouver signed the agreement to convert part of the old Golf course "Shaughnessy" in the public garden. The Grand opening took place on 30 August 1975. Its name, the garden was given in honor of the famous Vancouver lumberman and philanthropist Whitford Julian van Dusen, donated for its creation of 1 million dollars.

Today the Botanical vandusen presents more than seven thousand kinds of plants - representatives of the most diverse ecosystems in the world from the Himalayas to the Mediterranean, from Louisiana swamps to the Pacific Northwest. The garden is divided into themed areas, among which the most interesting is probably the Sino-Himalayan garden, the rock garden, perennial garden, rose garden and an Avenue of rhododendrons. Complete the well thought-out landscape scenic ponds, large stone sculptures, totem poles and the famous green labyrinth. Botanical vandusen is also a home to numerous fauna - small mammals, fish, reptiles, insects and birds.

In the new visitor Center, opened in 2011, has a gift shop and an excellent library equipped lecture classes and regularly hosts a variety of special exhibitions. In addition to the visitor Center, at the Botanical gardens - the administration building, hall "Floral Hall" and a luxury restaurant "Shaughnessy".
