In the heart of Old Montreal just a few minutes walk from the Old port at the corner of Bonsecours and Saint-Paul is one of the most interesting and oldest buildings of the city - Maison Pierre du Calvet. It is also one of the main architectural and historical sights of Montreal.

Maison Pierre du Calvet was built in the first half of the 18th century and is a fine example of urban architecture of New France. It's an old building with massive stone walls that can withstand the destructive force of fire (a real scourge for montrealers), a huge chimney and a pretty cool roof. The name of the house was named in honor of its famous occupant - a wealthy merchant and prominent political figure of Pierre du Calvet.

Today Maison Pierre du Calvet known as the Hotel-Chateau and this perhaps is one of the best places in Montreal for a romantic getaway, business meetings, weddings and other special events. The hotel offers luxurious rooms, a special flavor which give heavy ceiling beams and wood panelling, fireplaces, antique furniture, four-poster beds and all this combined with modern facilities of a four star hotel.
