Fort Bokar (or Fort Zvezdan) in Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful buildings of defensive architecture of the city. The Fort is located in the South-Western part of the city walls of Dubrovnik and is a key point in the defense of the pile gate, the Western fortified entrance of the city. Together with Minčeta tower they play a major role in the defense of the Western approach to urban land, their main task was to safeguard the gate and moat.

Fort Bokar was built as a fortress with two-storey casemates in front of the medieval walls. The Fort has a cylindrical shape. As one part of the Fort is located on a cliff, set up a special support (bridge failure). Under this bridge and now splashing waves of the sea, as it was immediately after its construction.

Fort Bokar was built according to the drawings Michelozzo di Bartolomeo of Florence. The construction of fortifications was begun in 1461. In 1550 he completed the roof, then it is still being completed, and to 1570, Fort Bokar took its present appearance.
