Once in place Stradun street was a sea Strait that separated the island of Ragusa from the mainland Slavic settlement. But then the townspeople ingeniously decided to fill it and paved with marble slabs, and since then, Stradun, remains the main trading street of the old town.

Even now, when extinct existed here once Dalmatian language, the locals sometimes call it its old name - the Parade ground. It is a favorite walking place of citizens and guests of the city. There are many souvenir shops, boutiques and cafés, and to the sides leaving a very narrow old side streets.

The Stradun is the Small Onofrio's fountain, created in conjunction with a Large fountain.
