The walls of the city are considered among the best preserved city fortifications in Europe.

Present your view of the fortifications of the city perimeter in 1940 meters acquired in the XVI century. It was then that Italian architects built the key parts of the city's fortifications: the tower Minceta, the pile gate, Bokar Fortess, as well as two stand alone fortress Lovrijenac and Revelin. In 1484 it was filled and ever since is in port protective like Porridge defending the port city from pirates and storms.

The port is protected by a fortress of St. John. Here now houses a Maritime Museum and a small aquarium.

The fortress walls offer a magnificent view of the old town and the port.
