People's square in Zadar was built in the Middle ages and was the centre of city life: it housed the city administration. Through the ages, the area changed their names and appearance.

The square is dominated by the city hall, which during the Italian government collapsed, but was rebuilt in 1934. Currently it is used as a platform for the presentation of various artistic projects of international level. In another building located on the town square, housed the ethnological Department of the National Museum, and at the moment settled exhibition hall.

In different parts of the square buildings of different era buildings, an old Church. Lawrence atrium. In the Eastern part of the square is the Palace Girardini of the XV century.
