Park nature Zumberak-Samoborsko stretches in hilly and mountainous region of the southern slopes of mount Zumberak and Samoborsko. The Park area is 333 sq. km. the Territory of Zumberak is a protected natural resource in accordance with an Act of Parliament in 1999. According to the Law on nature protection, in the natural Park of permitted economic and other activities which does not compromise the characteristics of the Park.

The natural Park is located in the North-West of Croatia where the mountains meet the plains Dinarily, the Alps and Pannonia. In this part of the country all the villages are at an altitude of 400-700 meters above the sea level, which is a feature of the Park. Along the Northern border of the Park there is a ridge which is not subjected to human influence, and therefore remained almost in its original form. In this area dominated by forests, mountain and forest pastures.

Mount Samoborski is located in the Eastern part of the Park and has a variety of landscapes - valleys with mountain streams, mountain ranges, covered with dense forests, and you can also find a small village.

The Central part of the Park down to the South, where mountains alternate with fields and valleys with rivers. In this part of the Park has the highest density of settlement.

Natural factors together with years of human activities made the Park Zumberak interesting and biologically diverse. The so-called cultural landscapes, where grasslands intersect with a forest, are the result of human activity. Clearing the forest, people made new open spaces, which are developing "new" species. So, inadvertently, people have enriched the natural wealth of this region.

Diversity of flora in Zumberak is confirmed by the fact that there were more than 1000 species of plants, some of which are strictly protected by the Law on the protection of nature, and some are declared as endangered species. In addition to plants of the meadows, the Park has a forest flora that lives in the moisture and in wetlands habitats, flora, existing in the thickets, steppes, rocks, sand. Many plants in the Park listed in the Red Book of plants of the flora of Croatia.

The Park is an attractive place for mushroom lovers, as the Park has 377 species of fungi.

Also on-site Gumeracha home to a huge number of animals. Though infrequently here you can see large predators such as bear and wolf. But the Park is home to many mammals, reptiles and invertebrate species. This region is home to many birds, particularly raptors, such as Goshawk. Reptiles in this area encompass most of the species that can be found on the territory of Croatia. The spotted Salamander is a permanent resident of this region.

Beautiful and diverse nature of Jumberca made it an attractive place for lovers of active holidays around the world. Hiking, Cycling, paragliding, horse riding, climbing - this is an incomplete list of how you can relax in the Park.

In the Park there are 4 Bicycle paths. On each track there is a map showing elevation, distance, travel time, points of travel, etc. Each cyclist will be able to choose a path depending on a number of factors and preferences.

For climbers in the Park there are two climbing sites - Ocic (located in the Park) and Tarihi (beyond its borders).

Anyone wishing to see Zumberak from the height of bird flight can realize his dream. For paragliding offers two registered and one unregistered location.

Experts of the archaeological heritage of Jumberca assure that this area is about 40 places of different historical periods. If you have to ask which ones you should visit, they will recommend the most studied and quickly achieved. For those who are more experienced, will be picked up by longer and more complex route.
