National Park “Urho Kekkonen” is one of the largest in the country. It is located in the North of Finland, Lapland and covers an area of 2550 km2, which is comparable with the area of Luxembourg.The Park was created in 1983, received its name in honor of the former President and Prime Minister of Finland - Urho Kekkonen.

The local population is traditionally engaged in reindeer breeding, hunting and fishing. In recent important role in the region is tourism. In saariselkä, which is located in a mountainous area, is the main tourist center. Here the majority of tourist routes.
