The Abbey of Saint-léger in Soissons is the name of the Holy Leodegario Bishop, who lived in the VII century. His death Leodegario found in the struggle for power in the ancient state Neustria, but, nevertheless, was recognized as a Saint, because grabbing his political rivals tortured him and then killed.

In Soissons Abbey is located in the historic part of the city, outside of the Congregation, not far from the Cathedral of Saints Gervasius and Protasius. Currently, the Abbey is located the city Museum, which opened in the 30-ies of the last century, and a library.

Abbey has appeared in XII century as a result of transformation of a small monastery, founded a century earlier. From the first cloister has been preserved underground chamber - a crypt that dates back to the XI century.

In the complex of monastic buildings include the Chapter hall, the cloisters and the Church, the reconstruction of which was conducted after the religious wars of Catholics against the Huguenots. At that time, was formed the present shape of the nave of the Church and bell tower. Bunk bell tower is located to the right of the main portal of the Church is the spire it ends in a flat platform surrounded by a balustrade.

Southern facade of the Cathedral is flanked by two towers, crowned with spires. Above its portal you can see the window-rose, which are three tall Windows, elongated, arched shape. Arched galleries surrounding the courtyard of the monastery, have the characteristic elements of the Gothic style - ribbed vaults resting on thin pillars.
