The city is also famous for its old castle of the XVI century. However, the first building on this place existed in the XIII century and was a two-story building with four powerful towers. To date, towers were only two, one of them, the largest, has previously housed a prison. The castle was used for defensive purposes, and was well fortified - it was surrounded by several ditches and a wide wall. The whole building was erected on the wooded dunes near one of the urban lakes.

In the XVII century was made the reconstruction of a medieval fortress, and she took absolutely other form. Lost a lot of outbuildings, typical of defensive structures, and, on the contrary, you have added elements, for example, the elegant Windows on the main facade of the castle. And chimneys was completed in the XVIII century. Interesting interior design of the Palace - it is worth noting, simple yet elegant fireplaces, made in the style of Louis XIII.

Behind the castle is a cosy poplar alley that leads to a viewing platform overlooking an amazing view of the lake. Also on the territory of the Palace Park preserved foundations of the ancient medieval building, presumably the North-Western tower of the fortress.

Monbron castle was the residence of the viscounts de Biscarrosse, the city's rulers. During the hundred years war stopped here a military garrison of English troops led by Edward the Black Prince. At the moment the Palace is closed to tourist visits.
