Larressingle is a beautiful old village in the South of France, region MIDI - Pyrenees. It is included in the Association "Most beautiful villages of France". Now there are just over 200 people. The nearest large settlement is the city of Osh, located 40 kilometers South-East of the village.

The history of this area goes back to the ancient times when there lived the ancient Gauls and Romans. The first documentary mention of the settlement Larressingle refers to the eleventh century, at the same time there was built the first Church of St. Sigismund. The first fortifications appeared later in the XII century. Interestingly, it is the smallest in size, a medieval city which grew around a fortress wall component 270 meters in length. It has been preserved almost completely, only the old bridge was replaced by a newer stone and embellished with turrets at the edges. At the moment, this architectural ensemble is protected by the state.

But the medieval citadel is practically not preserved and is now a gentrified ruins, is also protected by the state. The castle itself is made in the form of a trapezoid, it also adjoins the hexagonal tower. The building consists of four floors.

Especially noteworthy is the Church of St. Sigismund. It is a powerful construction of the XII century was connected to the donjon - the main tower of the fortress. It is more like the part of the city fortifications, not a religious building. The temple is built in the Romanesque style and a sustained rigor - decorative elements are virtually absent.

Among the other attractions worth noting elegant dovecote of the XVIIth century, the complex of fortifications of the XIII century, where tourists are invited to see the reconstructed medieval siege weapons and a small Museum dedicated to the everyday life of the pilgrims.

In addition, the city has many mansions and rich houses XV-XVI centuries, which gives it a single, unique architectural appearance. No wonder more and more tourists visit this picturesque village. Larressingle also has a pleasant Maritime climate with hot summers.
