The pass of the Lautaret is a kind of border between the Northern (region Rhone - Alps) and South (Provence - Alpes - Cote d'azur) French Alps. Previously this area was part of the historical region of Dauphine. This is one of the lowest points in this mountainous area, its height above sea level is "only" 2057 meters.

The pass is surprisingly picturesque. It offers amazing views of the peaks of the Alpine mountains and flowing down a mountain stream. Moreover, in this region are unique glaciers - glaciers. By the way, here also begin a variety of Hiking trails suitable for mountain climbing.

On the territory of this valley is valid Botanical Park, open in the end of XIX century in 1899. The garden area reaches 20 thousand square meters. This is one of the highest Botanical parks - it is at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level. There are more than 2 thousand species of plants, common in the mountains and even the Arctic regions. At the same time, they were brought from all corners of the globe. Flora is represented in the form of the famous "rock garden", decorated with stone slides and other elements, common in Alpine gardening.
