The Church of Saint Dominique, located in the Corsican town of Bonifacio, was built in the XII-XIV centuries, and in the second half of the XIX century was made by the chief inspector of historical monuments of France Prosper Merimee in the list of monuments of history.

Today next to the Church you can see the remaining fragments of city fortifications of Bonifacio, built in the XIV-XV centuries, and the tower Torrione - a guard tower of the XII century, with a height of 35 meters. It was built on the site of the former castle of the counts. Just behind this tower starts from the historical district of the city of Bosco. In the X century on this place grew the dense forests in which the hermits lived, and currently this area is not rich neither vegetation nor buildings, and the Church of St. Dominic is one of the few of its buildings.

The features of the Church is an octagonal bell tower, which stands on a square base, and its upper level is designed in the form of teeth. The Church interior is decorated with marble mosaic of the XVIII century, located above the altar, sculptures of saints Magdalen and Bartholomew, made in the Baroque style, icons and paintings. Thanks to the excellent acoustics inside the Church, it often hosts concerts.

Before the opening of the Naval cemetery in 1823 on the grounds of Church burials were carried out.

In the centre of Bonifacio are located, and other churches - Church of John the Baptist and Church of Saint-Marie-Majeure, among them the Church of St. Dominic is called the most humble.
