The temple of Saint Sava - the parish Church of the Serbian Orthodox Church, located in the capital of the German Federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the city of düsseldorf. It is located at street Wanhamestari, 54, in the vicinity of the terminal of düsseldorf International airport, reachable by bus.

The Cathedral was consecrated in honor of St. Sava, first Serbian Archbishop and the national hero of this country. It is known that he created an independent Serbian Orthodox Church, and several times made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. He died in 1236 and was buried in the ancient capital of Bulgaria Tarnovo.

The temple itself was built in just a year, although the money for its construction was collected from quite a long time, with the involvement of not only the residents of düsseldorf and the neighboring Ruhr area. Open parish of the Serbian Orthodox Church became necessary after the Second world war, when in Germany a flood of refugees and workers from different Balkan countries, including Yugoslavia. The land for construction was provided by the Evangelical community in the Rhineland.

The temple was completed in 1986 and designed in neo-Byzantine style. As an example, for its creation was made by the monastery in the municipality of Bujanovac, in southern Serbia. In 2007, the architectural complex was complemented by the chapel of the Holy New Martyr George of Kratovo.

The interior of the temple is amazing. Painting the dome and walls were engaged Serbian artist Miroslav Lazovich who have worked on them for about two years. They are made in the Byzantine style and depict scenes from the New Testament. But soon the frescoes were under threat due to heavy soot of candles during the frequent Church services. In order to reduce the number of services held in the nave, it was decided to build a separate chapel.

In addition, in the center of the Cathedral hangs a huge bronze chandelier is a chandelier, which are inserted in the iconographic image of the twelve apostles.
The temple of Saint Sava has more than a thousand parishioners. It is also an important cultural center of the entire Serbian community of the city.
