The old Palace was the first residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty in 1253-1474. Built by Ludwig Strict after the division of Bavaria (1255 year) he experienced its heyday under Ludwig the Bavarian, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 1328-1347. Since the XVII century the Old Yard was only an administrative building. A special attraction is the Bay window, known as "Affenturm" - "Monkey tower". According to legend, one day the monkey from the zoo kidnapped baby, who later became Emperor Ludwig, took him to the top of the tower and returned to the child only after much persuasion.
