Church Kaiser Wilhelm memorial: photos, description (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedaechtniskirche)

The memorial Church of Kaiser Wilhelm built in 1891 in memory of Emperor Wilhelm I, the founder of the Empire. Was heavily damaged during an air RAID in 1943. Its bell tower was not rebuilt, as a reminder of those terrible years.

This Church became a symbol of West Berlin. Its ruins incorporated into the modern architectural ensemble, which consists of a new Church in the form 8-gon and the tower, built of blocks of blue glass, brought from Chartres. The tower was recently restored mosaic depicting all the German emperors.

Over stylized altar inside the building reinforced is the figure of Christ floating in the air. On Sundays often hosts organ concerts.
