Agios Petros

Agios Petros, or Petros, Agia, a small mountain village in the southern part of the Greek island of Lefkada. The settlement is located 35 km South-West of the administrative center of the island of Lefkada town, and is part of the municipality of Lefkada. The name of the settlement was in honor of St. Peter's Church, built here in the 14th century. The population of Agios Petros has a little over 500 people. Main occupation of the inhabitants is agriculture, fishing and livestock.

Located on the slopes of mount Elati at an altitude of about 350 m above the sea Agios Petros is a literally immersed in greenery, traditional Greek village with lovely stone houses, the maze of narrow streets and, of course, a genuine atmosphere of hospitality of local residents. In the centre of Agios Petros there is the main village Church of Agios Athanasios, spacious single-nave Church with an impressive bell tower.
