St. Stephen's Basilica named after the first king of Hungary, istván (Stephen). The construction of the Cathedral began in 1848 under the leadership of architect józsef Hilde. After his death, construction was supervised by miklós Ybl. The building was completed in 1905 Along with the Parliament building, the Basilica is the tallest building in the city.

Sculpture of the patron of the Church, king Stephen, is placed over the gate leading from the vestibule, and the main altar (Alajos Strobl). Located behind the apse of the chapel of the Holy right hand is kept the precious relic of the Hungarian Catholic Church - the mummified right hand of St. Stephen.

To enjoy the amazing views, you can take the Elevator to the left bell tower of the Basilica. On the right the bell tower calling the biggest in Hungary, the bell, weighing 9.5 tons.
