District of Connaught (the most common use is the abbreviation SR) provides business, commercial and financial center of the Indian capital - new Delhi and NCR. Once upon a time this place was a deserted place, where lived only the jackals and wild pigs. But at the initiative of the chief architect of the British government Nichols, a project was developed to create a business center of the city. And although Nicholls left India in 1917, the project was not realized. His performance came from Robert tor Russell, who was the author of the design of Connaught place.

The construction of the district was begun in 1929 and completed in 1933. The main architectural style was balanced and thoughtful Victorian style. But, unfortunately, at the moment it is viewed not as clearly as before, due to the very active construction in the area and the entire district.

Named district was in honor of the Duke Kornatskog - Prince Arthur, third son of Queen Victoria. The official name of this place - Rajiv Chowk, named after one of the Prime Ministers of India, late Rajiv Gandhi.

The area is a large circle in the center of which is a huge square with radiating from it in all directions roads.

At the moment, the district completed repair and restoration work, which began several years ago as part of the rehabilitation programme and the conservation of the cultural heritage of India.
