Bharananganam - a place where pilgrims from all over the world. This city, which is located in the South of India, in Kerala, has an area of about 24 sq km and the population is not more than 17 thousand people. But it is a complex of shrines, the most important and famous of which is the tomb of St. Alfonso, the first Christian Saint born in India. It is in the territory of the millennial Church of St. Mary. Alphonse was born in 1910 and died in 1936, and the day she died - July 28 - is a very important date for the faithful. This woman led a righteous life, and even in his early years gave all his time to prayer and helping others. Over time, her grave became a place of pilgrimage and worship.

Also in town is the famous Temple of Sri Krishna Swami, which, according to legend, associated with the appearance of the city name "Bharananganam". It comes from the word "Peranakan" meaning the forest that held a sacred Hindu rituals. The temple itself is situated on the Northern Bank of the river Meenachil, and is one of the most famous attractions of the city.
