Limone Sul Garda is the name of this small town, located on the Brescia shore of lake Garda, just 10 km from Riva del Garda, comes either from the Celtic word "lemon", that means "elm," or from the Latin "Limen" - "the border". Interestingly, when this, in fact, a little fishing village called simply Commune Piccolo - a small commune. You can get here on the Western road Gardesana. The population of Limone Sul Garda is about 1.5 thousand people. The residential area is concentrated around the old parish Church, and above all the city is dominated by the peak Mugera, from which there are wonderful views of the lake and surroundings.

Long ago, the Lemon was the scene of a hard battle between locals and the army of Frederick II Barbarossa, who, despite the power of his troops, was completely defeated here. This town was the last on the Brescia side of the lake on the border between Austria and the Italian Kingdom. Such a strategically important geographical position has made it the subject of constant strife between Brescia and the counts of Arco, but in the 15th century the Lemon was dominated by the powerful family of the Visconti and later of the Venetian Republic. Until the mid-20th century, the city remained almost isolated - access to it was opened only after the construction of highway Gardesana. And before that it was accessible only by water. The appearance of the highway has provoked the rapid development of the Lemon, and primarily the tourism industry. Reached here, the thousands of tourists who were attracted by relatively intact monuments and beautiful nature. The inhabitants of the once fishing village began to transform their homes into hotels and pensions, and today it is one of the most popular resorts of lake Garda.

The world fame of Limone Sul Garda got in the 1970-ies, when as a result of medical research it was discovered that in the blood of indigenous residents of the town contains apoprotein - protein part of a complex of proteins that protects the body from all types of atherosclerosis and prevent the development of heart attacks.

Today the economy of Limone Sul Garda based on the cultivation of citrus, especially lemon, and citron, olives, which makes olive oil extra-class fishing and, as mentioned above, tourism. This town is a popular destination for weekends from March to October, the streets are usually filled with visitors.

The attention of tourists, of course, attract many of the greenhouse: first appeared in the 17th century, but only a hundred years later was built the most spectacular greenhouses, which led to the delight of the Goethe during his Italian journey in the late 18th century. Today, these greenhouses can be seen in the towns of Renal and Garber.

Ancient street of via the Fountain leads to the Church of San Benedetto, rebuilt in 1691.
