Manerba del Garda is a quiet resort town on the Western shore of lake Garda, located in the Valtenesi valley. According to the last census, its population little more than 4 thousand people. The name of the town apparently derives from the name of the goddess Minerva.

The first people appeared on the territory of modern Manerba even in the Mesolithic, but perhaps the most important findings are those that belong to the era of Ancient Rome and date back to the 1st century BC, is the ruins of ancient Roman villas. In the Middle ages, the town was built the Rocca, a powerful fortress, for the right of possession which fought the Guelphs and Ghibellines, and later briliancy and Verona. When in the 15th century Manerba became part of the Venetian Republic, the fortress has long ceased to serve in the military purposes. The Venetians were masters of these lands until 1796, when the armies of Napoleon. Then the city became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Today the economy of Manerba based on the production of excellent wines - Chiaretto, Rosso, Rosso Superiore. At the same time an important source of income for residents remain the fishing and of course tourism - the resort is especially popular among the residents of Brescia. In the area of Pieve Vecchia, it is possible to visit the ancient Church of Santa Maria Assunta, built in the 5th century, but much modified in the 11th century. Another interesting Church is Santa Lucia is in the area of Balbina, and in the town Solarolo is worth visiting the Church of San Giovanni Decollato and Santissima trinità. Special mention deserves the medieval fortress Rocca towering over the town and offers visitors excellent views of the surrounding countryside. From there you can see the island of San Biagio, located right off the coast of Manerba.

Near the town is the Golf club Garda Golf Club" where you can play Golf. Also in summer you can go on a short cruise along the coast and enjoy the water skiing.
