Museum of Christmas Cribs: photos, description (Museo del presepe)

Museum of Christmas Cribs in the Empire also known as the City art gallery and located in Palazzo del Collegio of the 19th century in Piazza del Duomo. Renovated in 2008-m to year, it consists of four exhibition halls. The spacious main lobby are displayed two immense canvases of the 17th century and paintings of the artist Francesco Bruno. There you can watch a video that tells about the history and restoration of Nativity scenes. The dens themselves are stored in a large glass case in another room. In the two side halls display a collection of the City art gallery.

The crib - Stucco main exhibit Hall in the Museum of the Empire - consists of 113 wooden statues of the 18th century, made by the Genoese sculptor Anton Maria Maragliano for a festive Nativity scene family Berio. I must say that Maragliano, who started as a student in the sculpture Studio of Arata and improved their technique under the guidance of Maestro Torre, was a prolific and very popular artist. He and his students have been working on these wonderful painted oil figures from 1724 to 1741-th years. And to ensure that every visitor could appreciate the skill of Marliana, the Museum administration has organized a special multimedia show with music, bright colors and moving images.
