Municipal theatre Giuseppe Verdi - one of the landmarks of the resort town of Salerno and one of its main attractions. The theatre was inaugurated in 1872, the year production of "Rigoletto" of the great composer Giuseppe Verdi. And a year after the death of Verdi, the theater began to wear his name.

The theater building was built on the initiative of the then mayor Matteo Luciani. Worked on the project the architects Antonio d ' Amora and Giuseppe Manichini, and the decorations executed by Gaetano d'agostino.
