Sesto is a small town in the ski resort of Alta Pusteria with a population of about 2 thousand people. In 965, the year all the valley on the orders of Emperor Otto I became the property of the monastery in Innichen. Even then, she was known under the name of Sextus, which comes from the Latin word meaning "six." In the Middle ages it was renamed Valle Sexta, and in the 19th century, Sesto was recognized as a mountain resort. During the First World war, in the vicinity of the peaks of Tre Cime di Lavaredo, was a war zone. From those times to the present day preserved blocks of stone with battlements.

Today, Sesto is a charming town, the world-famous winter and summer resort. Original Tyrolean huts, sculptures, monuments, and cultural traditions of these places make a real gem Sesto Alta Pusteria. In the city it is worth noting the Museo Rudolf Stolz, which exhibited more than 160 works by self-taught artist. In the first half of the 20th century he was one of the most famous artists in the Tyrol. His most famous work - "Dance of the dead" can be seen in the cemetery of Sesto.

Also of interest is the Museum under the open sky, dedicated to the First World war - in it you can see built in those years, cable cars, depots, emplacements, communication and tunnels. Unfortunately, most of the evidence of the war was destroyed over the years, but what remains deserves attention.

Of religious buildings Sesto stands out, first and foremost, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, built in the first half of the 19th century. Its vaults are painted with frescoes by albert Stolz. And the nearby cemetery you can see not only the graves of the conquerors of the local mountains, but wood and stone sculptures made by Tyrolean craftsmen. Also, you can see St. Joseph's Church in Moos built in 1679 year, the chapel of Ausserrhoden the mid-19th century, the chapel Valentine in bad Moos and the chapel of Fatima in Trojane, which was built as the couple vow that their son has returned alive from the war.
