The Church of Santa Maria in Trastevere was founded in the III century by St. Callixte, and completed under Pope Yulia I. over the centuries, despite numerous renovations, it is mostly kept unchanged its original appearance. And only in the XVIII century, Pope Clement VII commissioned the architect Carlo Fontana to build the portico. The facade of the Church surmounted by a high tympanum and decorated with richly decorated portals. Next to the Basilica stands a beautiful Romanesque belfry with the old bell under her roof.
