Villa Durazzo-Pallavicini, which today houses the Archaeological Museum of Liguria, located in via Pallavicini, 13, near the railway station in Pegli, a suburb of Genoa. Attraction of the Villa is a lovely 19th century Park in English style and a small Botanical garden. Unlike the Museum, the Park and garden are open daily.

The current estate was built in the late 17th century to Clélia Durazzo Grimaldi, who became the founder of the Botanical garden its name. And the Park was created by her nephew Ignazio Alessandro Pallavicini after he inherited the Villa.

The author of the Park project featured in 1840-1846 years, was Michele Canzio, who also worked at the Teatro Carlo Felice. The Park is situated on the hill behind the Villa and covers an area of 97 thousand sq. m. Despite the fact that it is made in typical English style, it is very theatrical: his area is organized as a series of scenes forming a play with prologue and three acts (Return to Nature, Memory, Purification). Various buildings and statues scattered around the Park are also part of this "submission".

The Park was opened to the public in 1846 on the occasion of the VIII Congress of scientists of Italy and immediately received international recognition. In 1928, the owner of the Park is Matilda Giustiniani gave it to the people of Genoa with a Botanical garden. However, in the 20th century and the Villa and the surrounding land came into some disrepair. The severe threat looming over them in 1972 during the construction of the nearby highway. Fortunately, the historical estate has managed to maintain, and in 1991 it was restored to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus ' discovery of America. Today much of the Park is open to the public.

On its territory you can see two ponds, a dozen of interesting buildings, various sculptures and an extensive grotto, representing Dante's Purgatory. After passing through the indoor passages and an underground lake, visitors can go to Heaven. Of the buildings of the Park, you can select Coffee-house in the form of a triumphal arch, the Chapel of the Madonna, the Mausoleum of Captain, Temple of Diana, Flower House, Turkish Temple, Obelisk, and Chinese Pagoda. And in the Botanical garden you can admire the Araucaria, cedar, korisnicima, palm trees, oak trees and various exotic flowers.
