The civic gallery of Modena is today one of the most influential cultural centers of Italy. The gallery was founded in 1959 year, at the initiative of the city administration. By holding exhibitions of contemporary art and photography and interaction with numerous museums and art centers around the world, the gallery in recent years, received recognition at the international level.

The gallery exhibited at two venues. The first Palazzo Santa Margherita is located on the street Corso Canalgrande, 103. The first and second floors of the Palazzo is ideal for exhibitions of paintings and photographs, as well as for small personal exhibitions. The second site Palazzina dei Giardini, located in the same street. A 17th-century building - the former summer residence of a noble family d'este is perfectly located for exhibitions monographs and retrospectives.

Among the permanent exhibitions of the City gallery of Modena - the design exhibition, exhibition of modern photography, the collection of graphic art and a collection of art postcards.

In addition, in a specially equipped room adjacent to the Sala Grande in Palazzo Santa Margherita specialists conduct master classes for children from 3 to 14 years. Educational activities are organized during the exhibitions of fine arts in collaboration with the Department of education of Modena. In these meetings, staff present children with collections of galleries and encourage them to interpret what they saw and heard in his style. According to the authors of the project, this approach allows us to develop the children's creativity and imagination.
