Pitti Palace: photos, description (Pitti Palace)

Pitti is one of the grandest palaces in Florence. It was created in 1487, presumably according to the project of Brunelleschi. Ammannati in XVI century, expanded it. Cladding rust out of huge blocks covering the entire facade. The only element of decoration are placed under the Windows of the lower floors of the heads of lions, crowned. The Palace houses the Royal apartments, the Palatine gallery, modern art Gallery, Jewellery Museum and the coach Museum.

In the Palatine gallery exhibited a collection of paintings, works of artists such as Botticelli, Titian, Perugino, Tintoretto, Veronese, Giorgione. Works of art collected by members of the dynasties of the Medici and Habsburg-Lorraine, still hung in accordance with the desire of the Grand Duke, regardless of the subject matter and chronology.

The Royal apartments on the first floor of the South wing of the Palace was created in the XVII century. The interior is decorated with frescoes by many Florentine artists, is a series of portraits of the Medici painted by painter Justus of Sustermans working at the local yard, as well as French, Belgian and Italian tapestries of the XVII-XVIII centuries.
