Giulianova is a town located in the North Italian region of Abruzzo on the Adriatic coast. He is part of the so-called Palm Riviera and is characterized by wide sandy beaches and rich ancient history.

The city was founded in Roman times as a colony called Castrum Novum. Then it became known as Castel San Flaviano. During its long history the city was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. At the end of the 15th century by order of Duke Giulio Antonio Acquaviva on a hill near the coast was built a new city, which received the name of Giulianova.

Today it is the most populated resort in the province of Teramo in Abruzzo. It is situated between the mouths of the rivers, Salinella and Tordino.
