Central mosque YUKO is one of the religious attractions of the city of Shymkent. It is located in the Western part of the city.

The mosque, opened in may 2013, is the largest mosque in the entire territory of South Kazakhstan region. The initiator of the construction of the Shrine was made by the head of state of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan.

At the Grand opening 748-th officially registered mosque in South Kazakhstan region was attended by the President of the Foundation of the UAE, Minister of justice, Chairman of religious Affairs, Chairman of the Agency of Kazakhstan for religious Affairs Kairat Lama Sharif, Ambassador of the UAE in Kazakhstan Republic - Matar al Ketbi and chief mufti Yerzhan Mayamerov, the Chairman of the Spiritual administration of Muslims of the country, the Governor of South Kazakhstan region Askar Myrzakhmetov. The opening ceremony was also attended by the chief imams, the representative power of cities and districts of the region.

The building area of Shymkent mosque is 8516 sq. m. at the same time, the temple can accommodate up to 3 thousand parishioners. The total area of the site that hosts the mosque, is of 2.69 ha. two-Storey part of the building of the mosque covers an area of 3699,4 sq m, the area of the dome of — 3702,3 sq m, the area of the minarets is 344 sq. m. in Addition, the unified complex includes the Imam's house, ablution room and boiler room.

The complex of a mosque with a high tower-a minaret, topped with a huge white dome, of course, is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Shymkent and its hallmark.
