The youngest musical theater of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the national theater of Opera and ballet named after K. Baiseitova, located in the city of Astana. The theater keeps traditions of Kazakh and world musical culture, reflecting on the legacy and realizing the spiritual needs of contemporary society.

The Astana Opera and ballet theatre. After K. Baiseitova is a beautiful three-story brick building, built on the basis of the classical elements of the order system with the majestic colonnade of the main entrance and luxurious stucco work in the interiors.

Previously, the building housed the Palace of railwaymen. The building was erected in 1954 During the reconstruction, carried out in 1998-2000 with the aim of placing it in the theatre, seats had to be cut from 800 to 360. After reconstruction the total area of the theatre was 10161 sq. m. (before renovation 4500 sq. m). The Opera and ballet theatre has one large hall, the small for 70 people, a lecture hall, two preparatory, 38 dressing areas, 8 dressing rooms, a recording Studio, a workshop, a warehouse, a lobby and a restaurant for 70 people.

In July 2000, the Opera and ballet Theatre of Astana city has assigned the modern name of national theatre of Opera and ballet named after Kazakh Opera singer, a dramatic actress after Kulyash Baiseitova. K. Baiseitova became the youngest winner of the title "people's artist of the USSR" for all the years of his assignment.

The first theatrical season was opened in October 2000 staging the Opera "Birzhan and Sara" (M. Tulebaev). From the beginning, the repertoire of the National theatre was presented masterpieces of Russian and world musical theatre. In addition, the theatre worked on the creation of new works that have contributed to the development of Opera and ballet in the country.
