State Republican Uighur theatre of musical Comedy named after K. kuzhamyarov in the southern capital of Kazakhstan - Almaty is the first and only professional theatre of the Uyghur people.

The history of the theater began in the early 1920s, when the city was founded the club of national minorities, which operated Uyghur drama club. In September 1934, the opening of the regional Uighur theatre of musical drama production of "anarkhan" sadyrova A. and D. Asimov. In the 1930s and 1940s, the theater staged: U. Hajibeyov's "Arshin Mal Alan" by G. Musrepov "Kozy Korpesh - Bayan Sulu", K. Khasanova Manon L. Yukhvid and B. Alexandrov "Wedding in Malinovka", V. d'yakova and I. Sattarova "Garip and Sanam", J. From 1941 to 1961 the theatre was located in the village of Shelek, Alma-ATA region and worked as the Uygur regional music and drama theatre.

Significant role in formation of creative activities of the theatre was played by such people's artists of the Kazakh SSR S. Sattarova, M. Bakiev, A. Samiev, M. Samatov, B. Omarov, V. In 1961, the theater moved to Alma-ATA in the building on Pushkin street. Then he became the Republican Uighur musical drama theatre. In 1967 the institution received a new name - Uighur theatre of musical Comedy. Two years later, the theatre was given a new building in Dzerzhinskogo street (today Nauryzbai Batyr) with room for up to 480 spectators, which he shared with another theatre, the Korean theatre of musical Comedy.

From 1994 to 2002, the theatre building was reconstructed. In 2005, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the theater was named people's artist of the USSR and honored composer Quddus kuzhamyarova.
