City Luxembourg city history Museum first opened its doors to the public in 1996. Like the city itself, the Museum combines the past and the present. In fact, the Museum building is a complex of four restored houses, built in 17-19 centuries, with an original addition in the form of a modern glass facade. Accommodating up to 65 people a huge panoramic Elevator made of glass, allowing the upper floors to enjoy spectacular views of the district Grund and the plateau of RAM, and at lower levels a good look at the rock. Open to the public and the old vaulted cellars discovered during excavation work in the early 1990-ies.

The Museum exposition is illustrated, including through modern multimedia and interactive technologies, the history of town planning in Luxembourg and in detail introduces its guests to the cultural, economic, political and social development of the city since its Foundation. The Museum collection includes painting, sculpture, topographical model (scale 1:666), furniture, tools and equipment, photographs, historical documents and more. In addition to the permanent collection, the Museum regularly holds various temporary exhibitions. Special attention is given to conduct various educational programs for children.
