Photos and description

National Museum of Malaysia - the largest collection of cultural heritage items and unique artifacts of the history of the country. The main Museum of the capital located close to Lake Park, and is considered one of the most visited.

The predecessor to it was the Selangor Museum, established by the colonial government in 1898. At the end of the Second world war, the right wing of the Museum was destroyed during the American bombing. The left continued to function, and on its basis it was decided to create a Museum of the independent state of Malaysia. It was built almost four years. The architects managed to combine elements of the Malay Palace architecture with traditional folk architecture. The main entrance looks impressive due to the huge mural, located on either side of him. These mosaics, made of Malay artists, represent key episodes in the history of the country.

Square two-storey Museum is divided into four galleries. In the first part are exhibited archaeological finds, mostly unique objects of stone from the Paleolithic era, pottery of Neolithic times, sculpture of the bodhisattva of a thousand years ago, and other rarities spanning the stone, bronze and iron ages. The pride of the Museum - the skeleton of a man who lived in Malaysia for more than ten thousand years ago.

The second gallery is devoted to the origin and development of the early settlements, the emergence of the kingdoms of the Malay Peninsula, the establishment of a Muslim Sultanate. Many items tell us about the formation of the Malaysian Peninsula as a powerful trade center. The collection of exhibits of the third area tells of the colonial history of Malaysia, the hard times of the Japanese occupation, and ends in 1945. The development of the national movement, the struggle for independence, the achievements of the modern state are all represented in the fourth gallery, devoted to modern history of Malaysia.

The national Museum has rich collections of edged weapons, headgear, including Malaysian rulers, women's jewelry, musical instruments, etc Ethnographic hall is a diorama of the rites of all peoples in Malaysia.

The Museum space starts on the external mosaics of historical scenes and continues with exhibitions in the open air, where are a curious sample transport from different eras.
