Museum of international contemporary art Rufino Tamayo became a haven for thousands of creative works by contemporary authors. In addition there is a restaurant and shop. The building of the Museum is located in Chapultepec Park in Central Mexico city.

Designed and supervised the construction of the Museum building, two architects. - Teodor gonzález de león and Abraham Zabludovsky. Upon completion of the work on this project both received the State prize of Mexico in architecture. The official opening of the Museum took place on 29 may 1981.

Now the Museum is part of the cultural complex, which also included the national Museum of anthropology and the State historical Museum. The Museum re-opened after renovation on August 26, 2012, the day of the 113th anniversary of the birth of Rufino Tamayo - artist-modernist, in whose honor and was named a Museum.

After the reconstruction, which lasted for years, it was converted into a documentation centre works Tamayo. Also here are his books, transparencies, photos, a library where you can find information about each artist whose work is exhibited in the Museum.

The exhibition hall is quite spacious and is divided into six major sections. The total floor area of about 1,900 square meters.
