Chetumal is the best suited for visiting various archaeological sites left by the Maya. A few dozen kilometers away are the ruins of settlements of Kohunlich, Icchabal and Tibane. The city on the territory of the modern state of Quintana Roo was founded in the first half of the fifth century B. C.
