Vallehermoso is a small town in the Western part of the island of La Gomera, located just 3 km from the coast and 18 km from the island's capital, San Sebastian de La Gomera. It is the second largest municipality of the island, on the area of 109 sq km. home to about 3 thousand people. It produces the famous palm syrup, and grows tomatoes, potatoes and bananas.

In the distant past Vallehermoso was the economic and cultural center of La Gomera, now the municipality occupying a picturesque valley, is increasingly attracting tourists - lovers of nature and ancient traditions. The traces of the past splendour can still be seen on its streets with colourful houses, the walls of which are covered with flowers. The city's main square - Plaza de La Constitucion is a remarkable fountain, and elegant benches. Around it is located the City hall, bars and eateries. A little apart stands the parish Church of San Juan de Bautista with a cubic bell tower and antique stained glass Windows inside.

A feature of the landscape is mount Vallehermoso Los Organos, formed basalt deposits, with two peaks - El Cercado and La Fortaleza (Chipude). The mountain is part of the national Park "Garajonay".

Off the coast of Vallehermoso is located the cultural center "El Castillo del Mar" - it occupies an old banana plantation, still in use until 1950-ies. In 1981, the year the main building of the plantation was restored and today there are concerts, evenings of folk music and cinema.

Another attraction of the city - Botanical garden "Descubrimiento de Vallehermoso", created in 2000 year with the assistance of the staff of the Botanical garden of Las Palmas. On the territory of 16 thousand sq m. it is possible to find plants from five continents, including all plants of the Canary Islands with a special focus on the endemic La Gomera. A separate area of the garden devoted to flora of the New world.

If you depart the city and head towards the coast, approximately 3 km will be on the pebbled beach of Playa de Vallehermoso, surrounded by cliffs. The ocean current here is quite strong and the waves choppy, so swimming on the beach can only be experienced swimmers. For this reason there was built a special complex with pools, cabanas, showers and eateries.
